07 - 19 - 2010 Boob’s attorney explains reasons for judge recusal request
(CDT) The attorney for a Centre Hall woman accused of planning her husband’s shooting death told Judge Pamela Ruest Friday that he thinks she has prejudged the case, & wants her to step down. Ed Blanarik pointed to 3 written requests—at least 1 filed by the co-defendant who has a different attorney—that Ruest has denied, without holding a hearing for attorneys to argue. He said she’s making up her mind without hearing the defense side. And, he said he thinks Ruest has already decided not to move the scheduled October trial to another county, where pre-trial publicity might not be so heavy. Centre Co. DA Stacy Parks Miller opposed the change. If granted, another judge from Centre Co., or a surrounding county, would likely hear the case instead.
