| Mifflin Co. Regional Police were called out to a North Grand St. residence Tues. evening on reports a pit bull attacked a 2-y/o child. Police were told the 21-y/o caller & the child had barricaded themselves in a bedroom with the dog attempting to break in. The child had received serious head injuried & was bleeding profusely from the pit bull attack. When police & first responders arrived, they found an open window & was met by the pit bull in an aggressive manner. Due to the emergent need to attend to the victim & the inability to enter the residence due to the dog, officers shot & killed the animal. The child was rushed to Lewistown Hospital where she was flown to Geisinger in Danville. Police are continuing their investigation into this case. |
