| (LS) After recently adopting a new county ordinance requiring a 50-ft. buffer zone between new construction & county streams, Derry Twp. Supervisors discussed their role in enforcing the ordinance in last night's meeting in Yeagertown. That same ordinance would also increase that buffer zone to 150-ft. between new development & high-quality streams in the county. This in communities where a financial challenge of as little as $8,000 could side-line a new house construction prompted Twp. Supervisor John McCullough to remark that this ordinance could cause Derry Twp. "to do a lot of stop building". Before the ordinance can be implemented, it first must be approved by the state DEP. |
